Online Conference 5 October 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
The NHS and the UK Government have recently made several commitments to improving mental health services across the UK. Mental Health will feature in the new Major Conditions Strategy, there will be a new 10-year cross-government Mental Health and Wellbeing plan and a further £150 million of government funding will be provided to improve mental health services up to 2025.
As promising as it seems, the challenge of improving mental health services in the UK is huge and there is concern that current commitments will not be sufficient. Historical underinvestment in this area, staff shortages and rising demand for services have created extremely long waiting lists and pushed many services to breaking point. In August 2022, a high peak of 5,000 patients waited more than 12 hours in emergency departments because of mental illness. Children’s mental health is also more at risk than ever before, with nearly 1,000,000 under-18s and young people seeking support for mental health struggles over 2021-2022.
The Transforming the UK’s Mental Health Services conference will take stock of current challenges and the policy changes on the horizon. Attendees will take away a more in-depth understanding of how to navigate this high-pressured and constantly evolving environment and improve mental health services across the UK.
Join us to learn about the impact of new policy and whether it will be sufficient and delivered in the right places, hear how to keep services operating in the current climate and be inspired by new service models and specialist support for high-risk groups.
