National Digital Public Contact Change Programme

Nick joined Sussex Police in 1988 and worked his way through the ranks as a Detective within investigate and intelligence units, specialising in the investigation of Serious Organised Crime, Counter Terrorism and Homicide. Having led significant organisational change programmes, Nick retired from policing in 2018 as a Detective Chief Superintendent.

He was subsequently appointed as Deputy Director for the National Digital Policing Portfolio, leading complex cross agency change activity within criminal justice, overseeing the development and introduction of greater digital working for frontline policing.

During his career Nick was a Gold Firearms Commander, Senior Investigating Officer, Force Authorising Officer (surveillance and covert investigations), Hostage Negotiator Coordinator and Kidnap Commander. Nick is most proud of the teams and staff he led that disrupted terrorist activity, prevented illegal firearms importations and got justice for victims of crime.

Nick currently splits his working time between lecturing at UEL, reviewing cold case murder investigations and supporting engagement between the police service and the National Digital Public Contact Change Programme.
