Craig Griffiths is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Operating Department Practice (ODP) at the University of South Wales. He began his career as a theatre assistant at St Michael’s Hospital, where he first encountered the ODP profession. After completing his diploma in Operating Department Practice at Cardiff University, he worked as a Paediatric Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children before moving into education in 2018.

In 2021, he joined the University of South Wales to help launch and lead its new ODP programme, developed with a strong practitioner-focused ethos. He is also the co-creator of PIPcast, a podcast that explores topics relevant to ODPs and perioperative professionals. Alongside this, he plays an active role in the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP), where he is a trustee and regular conference contributor.

Griffiths holds an MSc in Managing Care in Perioperative and Anaesthetic Practice and has contributed to the textbook Fundamentals of Operating Department Practice. His interests include simulation-based education and promoting public awareness of the ODP role, often sharing insights and educational content on social media. He remains focused on improving student learning experiences and advancing perioperative education.
