Professor of Healthcare Architecture and Planning

Professor Evangelia Chrysikou is Professor of Healthcare Architecture and Planning at UCL and Founder and Course Leader of the MSc Healthcare Facilities. A RIBA architect and healthcare planner, her work examines how healthcare buildings influence patient outcomes, safety, staff effectiveness and quality of care. She has advised the Greek, Peruvian and Japanese governments, the European Commission and healthcare organisations internationally. Her research spans Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania and has been funded by UKRI, Horizon 2020, Wellcome, the British Academy and international funding bodies in Japan and New Zealand. Her work brings together healthcare planning, architectural design, public health and operational performance, with a particular focus on recognising the built environment as an active component of care delivery. She is Co-Chair of ULI Europe’s Life Sciences and Healthcare Product Council and former Vice-President of EUPHA’s Urban Public Health Section.
