David Stevens is Director of Estates, Facilities & Capital Development for an NHS Trust, leading estates and facilities services across a complex healthcare estate serving communities in East London and Bedfordshire. With more than 30 years' experience across design, construction, facilities management and strategic estates, he combines technical leadership with a strong commitment to improving the environments in which people receive care and work. 

A Chartered Engineer, David is Vice President of CIBSE and chairs the CIBSE Facilities Management Group. He is also a Fellow of four professional institutions and one of the lead authors of CIBSE Guide M: Maintenance Engineering and Management. Alongside his executive role, he contributes to the profession through industry boards, conference speaking, judging panels and mentoring.

As his organisation’s Corporate LGBTQI+ Lead, David is a strong advocate for inclusion and creating opportunities for others within engineering and facilities management. His work has been recognised through a number of national awards, including the 2025 UK Construction Week ICON Award, recognising his contribution to the built environment and the wider profession. He believes that technical excellence, inclusive leadership and collaboration go hand in hand, and remains committed to supporting the next generation of FM and built environment professionals.
