Chief Executive

Neil Frackelton is the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit (GMIAU), bringing a deep commitment to tackling social injustice and promoting human rights.

Before joining GMIAU, Neil spent eight years as CEO of Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid (SWACA), a charity supporting survivors of domestic abuse, including those with insecure immigration status. During his tenure, he led the development of Sefton’s first bespoke women’s refuge, commissioned new services for women and children, and championed women’s rights locally and nationally.

A trained social worker, teacher, and practice educator, Neil brings extensive safeguarding expertise and a wealth of experience from across the voluntary sector. His background aligns closely with GMIAU’s mission to support people affected by immigration issues, housing instability, and domestic abuse.

Now leading GMIAU, Neil is passionate about building on the organisation’s strong foundations and values. He is dedicated to ensuring that GMIAU continues to stand against racism and anti-migration rhetoric, defending justice, dignity, and access to legal support for all.
