Paul was born into a family of wall and floor tilers, going back to his great-grandfather. From the age of 16 he spent his summer holidays tiling on building sites.

Decades later, Paul is a circular economy consultant and advises global businesses on sustainability and the circular economy. He is a regular speaker on circularity at conferences and summits across the world with his specialist topic of future material innovation.

Paul was appointed to the UK Design Council Expert Network in June 2024.

He is a guest lecturer on sustainability and circular design for materials on the Royce Institute Accelerator at Manchester Business School.

He is the co-author of “Materials & Sustainability: Building a Circular Future” (Routledge, 2024) and author of the e-learning course “Transforming Business with the Circular Economy” available on the Do Epic Good platform.

Paul sits on five boards as a non-executive director; two of those are in Manchester.
