I am a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and Southmead Hospital.

My speciality interest is lower limb arthroplasty, both primary and revision and proximal femoral fractures. My practice involves young adult hip surgery, and I regularly perform arthroscopic hip surgery and paediatric hip replacements.

I have a subspecialty interest in prosthetic joint infections and am a senior consultant in the prosthetic joint infection service for hips in Bristol, offering tertiary care to the region. I was part of the Inform collaborative and a key member of the team for the trial of single versus two-stage revision surgery in prosthetic hip joint surgery.

I have led the metastatic tumour management service at the Bristol Royal Infirmary for more than10 years.

I have published on impaction bone grafting in revision hip surgery and am a regular reviewer for the Hip International journal.

I was the orthopaedic lead for hip fractures for 10 years at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. I set up and led the Enhanced Recovery Project after joint arthroplasty in the Avon Orthopaedic Centre and was the lead for elective hip surgery there.

I have now headed the Division of Surgery as the Clinical Chair for the last 5 years at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust and also act as the National Joint Registry Coordinator for the hospital.
