Kurtis joined the Police Service as a volunteer special constable before becoming a full-time constable a few years later. He spent most of his service in East London, working in various roles including emergency response, neighbourhoods, criminal investigation and senior leadership support.

Involved in the earliest stages of Police Now’s development, Kurtis was a syndicate lead at the first Police Now Academy in 2015 before progressing to hold several roles including director responsible for programme design and delivery and director leading the organisation's work with police forces and key stakeholders. He became Chief Executive Officer in October 2022.

Kurtis sits on various boards and committees mainly connected with police workforce matters and is a trustee of a charity in his local area. Before entering the Police Service, Kurtis worked as a researcher, speechwriter and advisor in Westminster.
