Katie has been teaching for over 20 years, having trained initially as a Primary School teacher, obtaining a BEd. Since then, Katie has worked in many different settings and has experience across all Key Stages from EYFS to KS5, in both mainstream and specialist settings, as well as working within School Improvement for SEND at Local Authority level. Currently, Katie is the Director of SEND and Assistant Head at Rudheath Senior Academy. Prior to this, Katie was the Assistant Head at Abbey Hill School & College and, before that, headed up the Autism Resource Provision at Wilmslow High, was an Inclusion Quality SENCO for Cheshire East and a mainstream primary SENCO. She gained the SENCO Accreditation in 2009 and has been a SENCO for over 14 years. She is also a trained Reading Recovery teacher and Level 3 Forest School Practitioner. Katie is an award winning Key Note speaker in SEN, specialising in Autism, winning the NAS award for Inspiration Education Provider and the Nasen award for Best Secondary Provision in 2020.
