John Shutt is Professor of Public Policy and Management at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University. He joined NBS in 2018 from Leeds and is a graduate of Leeds Beckett, Birmingham and Cardiff Universities. He has also been a Visiting Professor at the College of Business and Management at Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) in Hangzhou, China.He was Professor at Leeds Beckett University 1994-2018 and Director of ERBEDU at Leeds Business School, the Policy Research Institute He was Deputy Director of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES); local government’s economic think tank , still based in Manchester and takes a strong interest in Northern economic development.
