Dr Colin Caughey is the Director of Policy at the NI Human Rights Commission. In this role Colin is responsible for the provision of advice to the Westminster Government/Parliament and the NI Executive/Assembly on the human rights compliance of legislation. In addition, Colin oversees the Commission’s monitoring reports to the UN and Council of Europe human rights systems. 

In his PhD Colin explored the role of national human rights institutions in promoting awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Colin has published numerous articles exploring the rights of persons with disabilities. 

Colin is a member of the Royal Irish Academy’s Standing Committee for International Affairs.
