Andrea Brown has been with Disability Action NI (DANI) since 2003, holding the roles Finance Manager, Assistant Director of Corporate Services and Head of Corporate Services. She was appointed interim CEO in 2020 and was appointed to the permanent position in 2021. With a finance and business background Andrea is passionate about creating a sustainable organisation that will flourish and challenge in the future.

Disability Action NI is one of the largest pan disability, representative organisations In the UK and Ireland, advocating for human rights for all and delivering services that provide disabled people with real opportunities. DANI are the secretariat for the All-Party Working Group on Disability, currently co-chair the Joint Forum of Government and Voluntary and Community Sector hosted by NICVA and are representative on the Charity Commission NI Stakeholder Forum, attempting to appear as often as possible where we can be most influential. 

Disability Action work widely in the field of disability employment, assisting and supporting disabled people in their whole journey through work. DANI are contracted to deliver government programmes such as Workable NI, Employment Support, Disability Specialist Support. Through these programmes DANI work closely with employers, providing training on Disability Equality in the Workplace and assisting employers embed best practice that benefits all employees.     

Andrea was co-founder of Disability Aid Abroad, a small charity that worked primarily n Tanzania with local disabled women into employment through practical training and support. She is most proud to have handed the mantle over to Disability Aid Tanzania, where local people are finding solutions to local problems.
