Nicola Morton has worked in local government finance since 1998 when she joined Birmingham City Council to work on the first major multi-year review of local government funding. Since then she has played a leading role on revenue grant distribution reviews and related matters for a number of organisations.
These include a number of local authorities, the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, London Councils, the Audit Commission, the National Audit Office and the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Nicola joined the Local Government Association in December 2012 as Head of Local Government Finance. She leads the organisation’s work on the funding and spending of local government, business rates retention, council tax, local government finance settlements and future funding. She also heads the LGA’s work on Spending Reviews, Budgets and Autumn Statements.
