Jack taught in primary schools for 10 years, holding a number of middle and senior leadership positions both in state and independent schools. With specialisms in music and mathematics, Jack has held various positions including Director of Music and Mathematics consultant. His research focuses on the use of critical theory and philosophy to inform classroom pedagogy as well as how Foucauldian theories support individuals to understand the role of power in the formation of identity. More broadly, his research interests involve critiquing embedded cultural, social and political norms and practices. Such norms may include the perceived inherent goodness of the schooling process, as well as the role schooling plays in the formation of subjectivities.
