Adam Sharr is Professor of Architecture at Newcastle University, Editor-in-Chief of arq: Architectural Research Quarterly (Cambridge University Press) and Series Editor of Thinkers for Architects (Routledge). He is author or editor of eight books on architecture including Modern Architecture: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford), Quality out of Control: Standards for Measuring Architecture (with Allison Dutoit and Juliet Odgers, Routledge) and, most recently, Creative Practice Inquiry in Architecture (with Ashley Mason, Routledge). He practices with Design Office, a novel design research consultancy that he established in Newcastle in 2010 which was listed in the Architects’ Journal’s ’40 Under 40’ of the ‘UK’s most exciting emerging architectural talent’ in 2020. Design Office has produced a number of university projects, which will be the focus of this talk.
