Nikolaos is a Research Fellow in Technology-Facilitated Abuse (‘Tech Abuse’) in Intimate Partner Violence Contexts at UCL Computer Science. 

Prior to joining UCL, Nikolaos worked as a Crime Analyst at the National Crime Agency’s Serious Crime Analysis Section (SCAS), where he was assisting police investigations of serious stranger sexual offences by conducting comparative case analysis to identify potentially linked offences and/or potential suspects. Before that, Nikolaos worked as a Research Assistant in an interdisciplinary NSPCC-funded research project at the University of Edinburgh, aimed at investigating deterrents to viewing child sexual abuse material. 

Nikolaos holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. In his doctoral research, Nikolaos examined possession and viewing of child sexual abuse material as a process, the role of the social environment and help-seeking behaviour in offending and desisting, as well as the challenges and opportunities in preventing this type of offending. Nikolaos also holds a Master of Science in Criminological Psychology from the University of Birmingham and a degree in Psychology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. He is a HEA Associate Fellow.
