Experience: 

I was a Liberal Democrat MP for 18 years and during that time served as Shadow Transport Secretary in opposition from 2007 to 2010, then as Transport Minister for three and a half years after that. I write regular columns for transport magazines and also undertake transport consultancy work. I am a published author with three books out, and a singer/songwriter with three albums out.
