Karen is an Australian trained Registered Nurse who has been in the UK since 1995. She is currently Deputy Head of Nursing at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and the APC South East London POA Nursing Lead.
Karen has worked in a range of day surgery/23 hour and theatre settings for over 30 years and is passionate about educating and empowering day surgery nurses to be knowledgeable and expert in their extended role.
Karen has been part of BADS Council for the past 7 years and in the BADS president role since June 2025. She is delighted to be involved in driving and promoting the profile and importance of day surgery and being a strong advocate for her fellow nurses to show them they have an important voice.
