Craig Varian was appointed Director of DWP Estates in February 2020
Craig is responsible for the effective leadership of the largest government leasehold commercial estate in UK Government, several hundred Civil Servants and a Supply chain of c.15k people. Craig also leads the property related delivery of one of the largest Government Major Programmes designed to rationalise the estate. Craig is the Head of Property Profession for the DWP. Craig champions improvement in Facilities Management in Government property and sits on a number of cross-Government boards.
Prior to Craig’s time with DWP he had a varied property career within Asset Management, Health and Safety, and Construction. He has worked for Private Sector Construction Companies, Housing Associations and Regulators. He holds an MBA in Construction and Real Estate, a MSc in Occupational Health and Safety, has sat on UK Construction Technical Committees and holds a Chartered Membership of two professional bodies.
