Ellen joined the Refugee Council in 2022 to lead on safeguarding strategy and best practice. Ellen has 10 years’ experience in advocacy and support, project management and service implementation across the voluntary sector and has worked in domestic violence, homelessness and mental health settings, as well as with people impacted and marginalised by immigration control.

Ellen is passionate about safeguarding practice that acknowledges the structural barriers that those experiencing risk face, the relationship between staff wellbeing and best practice, and empowering safeguarding practitioners to work in collaborative, inclusive and trauma-informed ways with people accessing services.
