Alex Hughes is Professor in Economic Geography at Newcastle University in the UK.
She has researched global supply chains, corporate responsibility, ethical public procurement, and sustainable production and consumption for more than twenty years. Projects have investigated corporate responsibility and sustainable production in Kenya, South Africa, Pakistan, the UK, and the USA. Recent research includes a project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Modern Slavery and Human Rights Policy and Evidence Centre, on tackling modern slavery in the medical gloves supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic.
