NHS Resolution

Lorraine Cardill joined NHS Resolution in April 2019 as Safety and Learning Lead for the Midlands and East Region. She is passionate about improving patient care through lessons learnt and sharing information to ensure safe and effective services.

Qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1994 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and then as a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse at Birmingham Children’s hospital in 1997, she worked on a neonatal cardiothoracic ward for six years. In 2000, Lorraine went on to complete her midwifery training and practiced as a Midwife for 18 years. This was predominantly as a community midwife and then inpatient matron at Birmingham Women’s NHS Trust.

Lorraine has experience in delivering a wide range of projects, service improvements and redesigns within NHS settings to ensure the quality and safety of services. She also has experience of working as a workplace representative and staff governor alongside her clinical roles.

Prior to her appointment at NHS Resolution, Lorraine was Deputy Director of Midwifery and Directorate General Manager for Maternity and Perinatal Medicine at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. This combined role enabled her to have both a strategic and operational focus as well as enhance her leadership and management skills within the senior team and wider organisation.
