Tony Avery is a GP in Nottingham, Professor of Primary Health Care at the University of Nottingham and an NIHR Senior Investigator. His main research interests focus on improving patient safety in primary care, with a particular emphasis on safe prescribing. He has led a number of large-scale studies that have investigated the frequency, nature and causes of prescribing errors and avoidable harm in primary care, and has designed and evaluated several interventions aimed at improving patient safety in primary care.
