Dr Beverly Joshua

Associate Professor, University of East London

Dr Beverly Joshua is an Associate Professor at the University of East London. Dr Joshua is an experienced intensive care nurse, educator and researcher, with an interest in professional nursing practice and improving students’ learning ability through innovative educational strategy.

Previously, Dr Joshua held the role of Course Director at London South Bank University. Her passion is to ensure that nursing students have the knowledge, skills, professionalism and clinical decision-making ability to deliver effective care to their patients.

Dr Joshua was awarded a Doctorate in Education from London South Bank University in 2017. Her research investigated the correlation between students’ learning approaches and their clinical decision-making whilst intervening to encourage the adoption of a deep approach to learning. She presented this study at conferences including the International Nursing Conference in Singapore (2015) and the European Doctoral Conference in Switzerland in 2016.

She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a strong background in initiating policies and processes relating to nursing education.

Dr Joshua is the co-author of ‘Professional values and practice’ in the Introduction to Nursing for First Year Students (Moorley, 2020).
