Lesley joined the NHS in 1977 working qualifying as a Nurse and Midwife.
Left clinical practice in 2009 to become a full time Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Regional Officer.
Lesley is now RCM National Health and Safety Advisor.
Passionate about influencing change to improve the health safety working environments, members and experience for women their families and babies.
Responsible for developing and training RCM H&S Activist’s
Engaging and influencing at national level, representing RCM national health safety and wellbeing group (HSWG).
HSWG prepares an annual work programme which is agreed by the executive of the NHS Staff Council, made up of nominated representatives from within the NHS in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, trade union representatives and NHS Employers representatives. Representatives from other organisations include the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), NHS Resolution and The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Lesley is also the Chair of TUC Gender in Occupational Safety and Health Group (GOSH)
