Janet Newsham chair of Hazards Campaign and coordinator of Greater Manchester Hazards Centre. I have been a trade union activist for more than 40 years, starting work at BAe. After a short career break I trained as a lecturer and delivered TUC Occupational Health and Safety and employment law courses as a trade union educator across the North West and led a UCU Union Learn women’s project and also a health and safety project supporting young people in the workplace. In my current role I advise workers and campaign on occupational health, safety and welfare issues, including delivering a project on Toxic Use Reduction and facilitating TUCAN – Trade Union Clean Air Network. I also sit on the TUC National Union Health and Safety committee and the Gender and Occupational Safety and Health Committee.
