When Matt moved from Connecticut, USA, to Edinburgh Scotland, he brought with him his experiences as Executive Director of the Connecticut LGBT Chamber of Commerce. 

Realising that the UK had yet to recognise the benefits of LGBTBE certification, and a more structured approach to diversity in procurement and supplier management, he set about researching the potential to introduce the LGBT Chamber of Commerce model to the British market.

In 2020 OutScotland was born, with OutBritain following shortly after.
