Refuge

Technology-Facilitated Abuse Lead for Lambeth

Sophie works as the Technology-Facilitated Abuse Lead for Lambeth, providing specialist support directly to survivors experiencing complex tech-facilitated and economic abuse. Sophie also works across the intersecting realms of policy, research, and public advocacy. In doing so, she ensures that expertise around survivor experience remains the focal point in the fight against domestic abuse. The team is leading the fight against tech-facilitated and economic abuse and is the only specialist service of its kind in the UK. They recently held the inaugural UK Tech Safety Summit, and continue to work in collaboration with a broad range of specialists from the tech and economic sectors and beyond.

Sophie is also an active member of Refuge’s LGBTQ+ employee network. Sophie focuses on the intersection between LGBTQ+ issues and technology-facilitated abuse within her research, and works to spotlight and respond to the additional harms which are often experienced by survivors from marginalised communities. Sophie has an undergraduate degree in Politics and Spanish from the University of Bath and a Master’s Degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
