Julius Akotia is a senior lecturer in construction project management in the school of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (ACE), University East London (UEL). He has taught construction management courses at Kingston University, London and University of Salford. He has also over the years, carried out module leadership and supervision roles for a number of construction management modules. He has supervised a number of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorial students and played external examiner role for national and international institutions. Prior to joining academia, he has practised as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction industry on a number of construction projects. He is a chartered member of Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
He is the link tutor for the department’s (ACE) academic ‘international partnership’ BSc Construction Management programmes with AMC metropolitan college in Greece, Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering (KSUAE) in Russia and Ain Shams University (ASU) in Egypt.
Julius holds a PhD in Construction Project Management from the University of Salford, Manchester. He has a strong interest in research and has participated in a major research projects, such as London Olympic project with the CIOB team of researchers. His research interests lies in the area of sustainability, in particular, the social and economic sustainability aspects of sustainable regeneration.
He has published over 20 research papers in local and international conferences and in academic journals. He has also refereed a number of conference and academic journal papers. He has collaborated with colleagues to edit a secondary data research textbook for built environment students for publication by Routledge. He is keen to collaborate with industry and other institutions to undertake ground-breaking research activities.
