Online Conference 16 July 2024, 9:00am - 4:00pm
Following a successful 20 year career in the media, working as a TV and radio presenter and producer, and a singer songwriter, Mik retrained to work in the EDI arena. Being one of the first disabled access consultants, Mik worked on several major projects, such as the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Granary Square/Cola Drops Yard and Camden Market, and was an EDI manager at Network Rail, acting as project lead on their PSED/EqIA policies, the roll out of their Reasonable Adjustment Passport and on the design of new station toilets to include Changing Places Toilet provision.
Mik was then offered the chance to be Co-CEO of the charity Phab, a charity that supported Mik when he became a full time wheelchair user aged 15. In the two years since starting at Phab, Mik and his Co-CEO Dawn Vickers have ensured the future financial stability of the charity, grown the number of people supported and implemented a total redesign of working processes to be as inclusive as possible. Mik is now leading the Phab Access Consultancy and Training Services project, where he is supporting young disabled people into the EDI arena, creating a knowledgeable new workforce and a legacy of empowered skilled disabled experts to push equality and inclusion forward into the future.
