Ipek Demir is Professor of Diaspora Studies, and Director of Centre for Ethnicity and Racism Studies, University of Leeds (UK). Demir’s research and publications sit at the intersections of the fields of race, diaspora studies, ethno-politics, nationalism, decoloniality, indigeneity, and global politics as well as epistemology and interdisciplinarity. She has held fellowships from the AHRC and the ESRC and was also a Senior Research Fellow on an EU-funded grant. Before joining Leeds, Demir worked at the University of Leicester and also at the University of Cambridge. Her recent book is entitled Diaspora as Translation and Decolonisation (2022, MUP). She is Deputy Director of Research and Innovation at SSP and the Chair of the Decolonising Research Task and Finish Group, University of Leeds.
