Anna Grey began her career at the University of Bradford as the Examinations Officer and Faculty Secretary before joining the Planning Office. Since then she has worked at Durham at the Stockton on Tees Campus as the Assistant Registrar, at the University of Hull as the Planning Officer, the University of York and the Head of Research Strategy and Policy. In 2021 she joined Edge Hill and the Director of the Research Office. She has undertaken various roles including teaching quality, HESA and HESES, examinations, admissions and benchmarking.

At York, she was responsible for research strategy and policy, which includes Impact, Integrity and the University Research Information System. She has also overseen the last three REF returns for York and acted as a REF Panel Advisor for Main Panel A. her particular area of specialism is on research performance and has a major interest in responsible performance measurement.
