Online Conference 26 April 2023, 9:00am - 3:00pm
Emily’s passion for sport led her to develop a career within sport science as she’s always been interested in gender inequality and closing the gender gap in sport and sport research.
Before joining Women in Sport, she undertook a master’s degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology and became a lecturer in Sport Science at St. Mary’s University where she specialised in teaching and researching the influence of the menstrual cycle on endurance athletes. Recently, she finished working with the GB Olympic Rowing team in both the men and women’s team in the build-up to European Championships and Rowing World cup.
Emily has joined the team as an Insight Officer and is responsible for supporting the Insight team with key projects, helping to deliver their insight – from undertaking interviews and helping to facilitate focus groups, through to liaising with research companies who are delivering insight on WiS behalf. She has always been an advocate for gender equality in sport and so when she spotted the role, she immediately jumped at the opportunity to be part of the team. She believes that women in sport are finally getting the recognition that they deserve and feels excited to be part of the charity’s mission when there is so much momentum in the right direction.
