Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr Jessica Brown is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences at the University of Liverpool, working within the Department of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine. Her research focuses on the development and implementation of person-centred approaches to healthcare, with particular expertise in behavioural science, qualitative research, patient and public involvement and co-creation.

Jessica currently works on the ARISTOTELES project, a Horizon Europe funded research programme (Grant Agreement 101080189) exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to support the management of patients with atrial fibrillation and multimorbidity. The project brings together experts in AI, data science, software engineering, and clinical and behavioural science to develop and evaluate AI-enabled tools designed to support patients and healthcare professionals in managing complex cardiovascular care. Jessica’s work focuses on understanding patient, public and healthcare professional perspectives on AI, and on involving stakeholders in the co-design, implementation and evaluation of AI-enabled healthcare tools. Through this work, she aims to ensure that AI is developed and implemented in ways that are acceptable, meaningful and responsive to the needs of those who will use and be affected by these technologies.

Jessica holds a PhD in Health Psychology from Liverpool John Moores University and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
