Gabi is an AI governance policy and legal expert, with a decade of experience as a policy professional and team leader, advising public sector organisations on AI policy and regulation. She holds vast knowledge on AI law, regulation, and policy, as well as digital regulation, privacy, IP and data protection law.
Gabi started her career as a lawyer at Accenture and soon moved to the public sector. She led several initiatives on AI regulation for the UK government, both in DSIT and AISI (AI Security Institute), including the AI Regulation White Paper and the consultation process, the domestic approach that informed the first AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park and issues around liability and institutional configuration for the UK AI Bill.
She currently heads up the AI policy and regulation team at the UK medical regulator (MHRA) and is a Visiting Professor at King's College London, where she leads a module on AI law. Gabi is a qualified lawyer and holds a Master's of Laws (LL.M) in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law, specialising in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
She was ahead of the curve by submitting a master of Laws dissertation that explored the challenges around Large Language Models (AI), including their risks, e.g. the potential to scale misinformation and disinformation.
She submitted her proposal and drafted it right after GPT-3 was launched in 2020. The paper included potential solutions, including an automated tracking system with identifiers, which was groundbreaking at the time.
Gabi is firmly committed to achieving and promoting women's equality as a member of different NGOs and projects focused on closing the gender gap.
