Alex Firmin (AI Course Tutor)

Alex Firmin is an experienced education consultant and ABP Registered Business Psychologist, specialising in the design and delivery of engaging personal and professional development programmes. He is highly adaptable and skilled at working with leaders at all levels, from frontline managers to executive boards, helping them navigate the evolving demands of modern organisations.

With a strong focus on leadership, organisational behaviour, and the future of work, Alex combines his deep expertise in psychology with a growing interest in the transformative potential of artificial intelligence. He recently completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, equipping him to help leaders understand and leverage AI strategically and ethically within their teams and organisations.

Prior to his consultancy career, Alex served as a Major in the British Army. A natural diplomat, he studied Pashto (the language of Southern Afghanistan) and played a leadership role in supporting reconstruction and development in Helmand Province. He also contributed to the design and delivery of the Army’s global Security, Leadership and Strategy Programme and helped establish the curriculum for Afghanistan’s Officer Training Academy in Kabul.

Since transitioning to consultancy, Alex has built a successful organisational development practice with clients including Raytheon, KPMG, Barnardo’s, and numerous SMEs and charities. His current work explores Distributed Leadership, Managing Neurodivergent Colleagues, and the intersection of AI and human capability in leadership development.

Alex holds three Master’s degrees, in Educational Innovation, Psychology, and Occupational Psychology, and brings a blend of academic insight, real-world leadership experience, and technological awareness to his teaching. He lives with his wife, Katherine, their two children, and two Labradors.
